“The unconditional love we share with others does not end; if anything, it grows. And that is why none of this is meant to be overcome. This is why there are no timelines or properly ordered steps. Love isn't something you conquer or control, and neither is the ensuing pain of loss. Both are simply meant to be lived.”

— Marisa Renee Lee, Grief is Love

Meet the Board of Directors

Given we have only just begun, we are a small - and dedicated - team. Read below about these stellar individuals and let us know if you’d also like to get involved!

  • Clerk

    contact me: clerk@monarchmeadowcarefarm.org

As a licensed social worker with a passion for nature, I am thrilled to serve as the clerk of monarch meadow carefarm. I currently live in the Boston area, but am often dreaming of the woods and mountains. At work, I split my time between providing therapeutic support to teens and adults and advocating for access to affordable housing and health care.

I am originally from outside Philadelphia, but I spent much of my childhood in rural Montana and Vermont. These experiences shaped me and built a lifelong appreciation of nature. I continue to spend much of my free time outdoors hiking, walking my dog, or enjoying the snow. I believe deeply in the importance of access to the natural world and caring for and living alongside animals. This has been true in my own life, and in the lives of those I serve.

Knowing how transformative time in nature can be, particularly for individuals experiencing grief or loss, I am truly honored to serve in this role and support folks along their healing journey.

  • Treasurer

    contact me: treasurer@monarchmeadowcarefarm.org

I am honored to serve as the treasurer for monarch meadow carefarm. Originally from New Hampshire, I have called Colorado home for more than a decade. I believe that life moves in seasons, each bringing opportunities for growth, connection, and transformation. My own journey has led me through seasons of mentoring adolescents in a nonprofit setting, teaching middle and high school math, and now completing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling.

In our fast-paced world, grief often lacks the space and support it deserves. Through my own experiences with loss, I have come to realize the profound healing that comes from connection—both with others who share similar experiences and with the natural world. I wholeheartedly believe in the therapeutic power of animals, nature, and community in fostering healing, resilience, and hope.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and hiking with my partner and dog, board game nights, and playing the piano. I am grateful to serve on the board of monarch meadow and to support its mission of providing a compassionate space where individuals can process grief, find connection, and experience healing.

  • Founder, Executive Director, Chairperson of the Board of Directors

    contact me: connect@monarchmeadowcarefarm.org

I believe that trust needs to be earned, especially among leaders, and I know that requires time, a relationship, and clear evidence of not just their heart, but their impact. Until monarch meadow grows more, this will be hard to prove; however, in the meantime, may you get to know a bit of my heart within this role.

My volunteer and career journey has included being a part of various nonprofits and grassroots organizations. I understand the power of linking arm in arm with others inside and outside of an organization to work to fulfill its purpose, experiencing setbacks and disappointments along the way. I am aware this is a steep learning curve, and I am dedicated to my own personal and professional development in this role of Executive Director and Chairperson. I commit myself to:

    • Continually create conversation among board members regarding the impact of relational and power dynamics and the ways our human identities and experiences inform our perspectives

    • Seek reparation of any relational ruptures through curious and humble conflict resolution, centering the person who has been harmed

    • Ensure my own ongoing reflection regarding internalized biases, prejudices, and other colonizer perspectives, remaining open to hearing from others about my blind spots

    • Receive nonprofit mentoring support, currently provided through SCORE

    • Connect with community partners – those with professional skillsets that are needed as well as those who have traumatic bereavement experience beyond my own to inform our offerings and strategic planning.

Please reach me at any time if you have questions, concerns, or constructive feedback. If you are curious about my educational background and training, you can read it in the section above.
